Uganda: Evangelist and Other  Christians Assaulted 

Islamist at an open-air evangelistic event in eastern Uganda on Aug. 11 assaulted a preacher and more than 20 other Christians for his teaching about Christ’s divinity, sources said.

Robert Faisali Miya, a 34-year-old father of four, was also struck with a thorny object and stomped on during the event in Busolwe, 236 kilometers (147 miles) northeast of Kampala, an eyewitness said.

On the third day of a five-day event Muslims began chanting the jihadist slogan, “Allah Akbar [God is greater],” and a Muslim leader known in the area to be hard-line sheikh, Hiisa Mubaraka, rushed to the podium and pulled the evangelist down, said the eyewitness.

Pakistan: Blasphemy Accusation Sparks Mass Attack on Christians 

Instigated by mosque leaders, Muslim mobs on Wednesday (Aug. 16) burned 20 church buildings and ransacked Christian homes and businesses in Jaranwala, Pakistan after a Muslim framed two Christians in a false blasphemy case, a relative said.
The rioting began after Muslim residents of Cinema Chowk in Jaranwala, Faisalabad District, accused Umar Saleeem, known as Rocky, of desecrating pages of the Koran and writing blasphemous comments.

India: Hindu Nationalists Injure Four Christians in Attack

A mob of Hindu nationalists brutally attacked four Christians in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The violent attack reportedly took place in the presence of the village leaders.
According to local sources, the group of Christians was summoned to a meeting by the village leaders, where the Hindu nationalists attempted to force the Christians to renounce their faith and convert back to Hinduism. The leaders threatened them with abusive language, and the mob told the Christians of the consequences of not renouncing their faith in Jesus. The leaders told them that if they did not deny Christ, they would be thrown out of their village. Nevertheless, the Christians remained faithful and did not deny Christ. When the four Christians refused to deny their faith in Christ, the mob beat them with sticks and stones. They were rushed to the hospital with police protection.

Uganda: Pastor Beaten Unconscious while Speaking at Funeral

Islamlists threw stones at a pastor in eastern Uganda and beat him unconscious as he spoke at a funeral using both the Bible and the Koran, he said from his hospital bed. Pastor Davidson Okirori, 39, said he was officiating a funeral for one of his church members on July 21 in Kyoga village, Mayuge District when he was attacked.

Uganda: Husband Kills Wife for Converting to Christianity 

A Muslim in eastern Uganda on July 9 killed his wife for converting to Christianity that morning, a relative said.
Amina Nanfuka, 31, had returned from a medical check-up in Kampala and a visit to a worship service in the capital city to her home in Bugiri town, Bugiri District, where her husband, 40-year-old Abudullah Waiswa, had learned of her accepting Christ at the church, said the relative, whose name is withheld for security reasons.

Pakistan: Christian Charged with Blasphemy under Terrorism Law 

A judge is allowing a Christian to be charged with blasphemy under Pakistan’s anti-terrorism law, which his attorney said is “illegal and illogical.” Attorney Rana Abdul Hameed said Lahore Anti-Terrorism Judge Abher Gul Khan on July 6 rejected his application seeking the elimination of the terrorism charges against 32-year-old Imran Rehman, arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from Lahore on Sept. 14, on allegations that he had shared a blasphemous message in a WhatsApp group.

Nigeria: Plateau State Christians  in Fear as Attacks Escalate 

The Mangu local government area of Nigeria’s Plateau State continues to face attacks by Islamist. These attacks displace residents, destroy farms, and prevent Christians from going to their schools and places of worship. A recent attack on July 8 left at least 13 dead and many seriously injured. Six houses were burned down during the attack. While the corpses from that attack were being gathered for mass burial the next day, another group of terrorists killed a security guard as Sunday worship was about to commence.
